URGENT! TRAVEL ADVISORY: New TSA/ICE Data Sharing and REAL ID Fees
Recent updates confirm that the TSA has now fully collaborated with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Under this new partnership, TSA shares passenger identification and data directly with U.S. immigration authorities. ICE then cross-references this with their internal databases to identify individuals for enforcement; this has already resulted in at least two high-profile arrests. While airlines have historically shared data with the TSA for security screening, this shift toward domestic immigration enforcement marks a significant departure from previous policy. It aligns with the Trump Administration's “Immigration Crackdown Agenda.”
In addition, travelers who are unable to present a Real ID at the airport will be subject to a $45 fee starting Feb 1, 2026. TSA stated that the fee is needed to use a modernized alternative identity verification system.
If you have an outstanding removal order, an active appeal, or a pending case with USCIS, please consult with an experienced immigration attorney before booking travel. These statuses may now trigger questioning or detention by ICE agents at the airport.
Also, the recent Travel Ban has now been expanded!
